Saks Fifth Avenue is ready to put on a show for the holidays. To celebrate its 40th anniversary at Beachwood Place, the luxury retailer has glitzed up its displays with dramatic flair that stretches through the men’s and contemporary sections and up the grand escalator in the center of the store. “Saks as a company always does festive displays, but the Beachwood store takes it one step further with our themes and how intricate the decor is,” says John Dezzutti, the store’s general manager. Here are three things we’re loving about the displays.
Theater of dreams: Saks draws inspiration from Playhouse Square and its classic theaters. If you look closely, the displays even play out like a story of entering the theater, drifting to sleep and exploring the different departments in Saks. It makes the store feel a bit dream-like. “Theaters are a place of high class that people dress up for the occasion," Dezzutti says. "That’s how we want people to feel in our store.”
All red: We love a hint of red for the holidays. But with floor-to-ceiling red velvet curtains draping throughout the store, red trees, carpets, clothes and more, Saks shows us that sometimes more really is better. “Red really reads as a more traditional holiday color,” Dezzutti says. “But our visual manager took it to another level by pairing red with the perfect pieces from the store like furs, velvets and sequins.”
Center piece: The outer displays lead you to the center of the store where the grand ledge escalator towers over the store covered in red curtains, carpet and more. Mannequins don the latest must-have holiday trends with playbills in their hands. “This is where we want people to stop and say, ‘Wow!’” Dezzutti says. “It is really going to be the focal point of the excitement.”
