St. Louis-style ribs from Saucisson Cleveland ($6 per pound)
One thing I’ve learned from buying limited-run sneakers is that you’ve got to jump online quick and pull the purchase trigger without thinking about it. The same goes for these ribs from Saucisson Cleveland. Every time the weekly online order form goes live Wednesday afternoon, I hop on to try to buy this delicious cut before they run out. Thankfully, my success rate is better than with shoes. saucissoncleveland.com

Sandalwood & Cardamom Candle from 1820 ($28)
I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t quite aware of what cardamom was when I first saw (or should I say, smelt) this candle at Oceanne Boutique a couple weeks ago, but what I do know is that it makes me feel like I’m sitting in a lush, wooded field after a rainstorm when I’m really in my home office. I’ve always been a fan of more subtle scents in my candles that evoke more of a feeling, rather than a specific food or flower, and this candle does just that with it's blend of sandalwood and green iris. It's really a perfect way to usher in the cozy, fall season. It’s no surprise that this hand-poured candle is part of 1820’s B. Elixir Aromatherapy collection -– it definitely feels like some much needed therapy for my senses. 1820house.com

Pinot Noir from Laurentia Vineyard and Winery ($35)
I worked on a project for the Ashtabula Convention and Visitors Bureau last year, and was introduced to many of the pinots in Ohio Wine Country. My favorite was the Pinot Noir from Laurentia Vineyard and Winery. It’s got a great smooth and silky taste with hints of black cherries. Definitely worth the visit, or having it shipped right to your doorstep. laurentiawinery.com

Letterpress Jess cards ($4.50 each)
I’m sending a lot more cards to friends and families these days so this captures not only my love of writing but my obsessions with the TV show, Parks and Recreation and the no-nonsense, no frills, tell-it-like-it-is character, Ron Swanson. Letterpress Jess owner and creator Jess Bennett picked the best lines from Swanson for her #Swansonism cards such as “Dear Frozen Yogurt, You are the celery of dessert. Be ice cream or be nothing.” But even if you’re not into Ron or Parks and Rec. (it’s OK, we can still be friends), Bennett has plenty of other cute, punny cards for almost every occasion you can think of that are sure to brighten your mood and those who find your thoughtful note in their mailbox. letterpressjess.com

EarthQuaker Devices Plumes Overdrive Guitar Pedal ($99)
While I've dabbled with some of this Akron-based company's products while playing through friends' pedalboards, I'd been dreaming of the day I got my hands on my own guitar effects pedal from EarthQuaker Devices since I profiled the gear maker in our July 2019 issue. I run a pretty basic rig, so rather than the Dispatch Master (a digital delay and reverb) or the Rainbow Machine (which makes your guitar sound like otherworldly magic pixie dust), I opted for the Plumes. This three-in-one overdrive pedal gives my guitar a gritty, amp-like rock distortion sound, is available at a budget-friendly price and features a cool swirly green and yellow design — which always makes things sound better. A little warning: This pedal is LOUD. When I first plugged it in and strummed, I thought my amp was going to explode and my fiancee was going to leave me. Luckily, neither of those things happened. So if you're like me and Neil Young and your guitar-playing mindset is the louder the better, this is the stomp box for you — just start slow. earthquakerdevices.com
