August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning drama captures the plight of Troy Maxson, an African-American man excluded from major league baseball in 1957. Working as a garbage man and preventing his son from pursuing sports, Troy’s past and inner conflicts take a toll on his life and his family. Community engagement is always fun when there’s kielbasa involved. Hosted by The Fleet Avenue Stakeholders, Slavic Village serves community cuisine from local restaurants at the 2nd annual Fleet Avenue Kielbasa Cookout. Slavic Village Development works with its residents and businesses to promote civic engagement and neighborhood investment. Cleveland Beer Week
It's a week we look forward to all year. With events such as the Belgium Social, Deep Brew Sea 2.0 and Collaboration Crawl, Cleveland Beer Week hosts events all over Cleveland raising awareness of the craft beer industry. Enjoy the Brewzilla event with 90 breweries offering tasting and prizes at Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center. You can also join the festivities of the Farm Crawl at Mapleside Farm with beer stations, hayrides and corn mazes spread across the 100-acre property. Fall Festival of Leaves
Step out of your busy day-to-day and appreciate the fall scenery surrounding Northeast Ohio. Historically known as Leaf Country, USA, downtown Bainbridge transforms into a celebration of autumn leaves. The festival includes crafts, live entertainment, parades, an antique tractor show, a log sawing contest and more. You can also register to participate in the 5K run/walk. $15-$20. Spooky Science
If you have ever been scared of bugs, spiders, snakes or bats, Spooky Science is just the event for you. Activity stations such as the Fear Factor Challenge, Bone Digging and Creepy Crawlers teach you all about the things that spook us and combine cool science facts. With special presentations from The Mad Scientist, Cool Critters and Eyes on Owls, creepy crawlies have never been so fun. $6-$8.
