Flamenco Level One Class With Abrepaso Flamenco
Try out some new moves this weekend with a level one Flamenco class that is perfect for beginners and first-time dancers. Hosted by Abrepaso Flamenco and Wilhelm Dance in Rocky River, this one-hour class will teach you the different basics of traditional Spanish dancing and tango choreography. All those attending will be required to wear masks or face coverings. Heights Arts Spotlight Showcase: Helen Liggett
Opening this weekend, Heights Arts will be showcasing their first artist spotlight of the new year. Photographer Helen Liggett’s work focuses on urban photography and she’s known for her many published works including Urban Encounters, Design/Rebuild and others. This exhibition features intimate black and white photographs of sculptors making pots and clay sculptures. Liggett began this project seven years ago when she was invited to take photographs of female potters. The official opening of the exhibit is this Friday and will run through March 14. Infinite Hope: Tribute to MLK at Karamu House
In honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Karamu House will be hosting a 50-minute virtual performance tribute. The show will include a presentation of songs, spoken word and dance performed by members of the theater. Inspired by one of his quotes, the event “Infinite Hope” will be available to stream through the end of Sunday on Karamu House’s website. Registration is required to gain access. The JiMiller Band Livestream Benefit Concert If you’re looking to catch some live tunes while kicking it back on your couch, the Winchester Music Tavern has the perfect event for you. JiMiller Band, known for their renditions and covers of songs by The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and other rock stars, will be performing via Facebook livestream from the tavern’s stage this Saturday. Tacarra Williams at Pickwick & Frolic
Laugh it up this weekend with a performance by comedian Tacarra Williams. Williams, the Bronx-based comic known for her honest commentary and her 30-minute special on Comedy Central, will be gracing the stage at Pickwick & Frolic this Thursday through Saturday.
