Last year marked the first St. Patrick’s Day parade in The Land since 2019, and 2023 is geared up to go above and beyond that.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 17, starting at the intersection of Superior Avenue and East 18th Street before wrapping around Public Square onto Rockwell Avenue — bagpipes, drummers, dancers, alpacas and all.
The parade is also the oldest of its kind in Ohio, boasting around 10,000 participants and representatives from 28 Irish organizations.
Michael Coyne of MCV Funeral Homes and Mickey’s Ice Cream & Sandwich Shop in Willoughby takes over as the parade’s Grand Marshal, with this year’s theme centered around “A Salute to Irish American Athletes.”
Furthermore, the St. Patrick’s Day Committee of the United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland promises two tickets to Dublin through Aer Lingus’ new Cleveland direct flights. All adult donors to the parade with guarantor status (those who spend more than $25) are eligible to win the prize, which the committee will announce on April 16.
Head to the committee website before April 10 if you’d like to donate before the raffle ends, and don’t forget your greatest green gear before you venture downtown for The Land’s iconic St. Paddy’s bash.
