In the early days of the automobile industry, Cleveland was in the driver’s seat of innovation and engineering. Although it eventually lost out to Detroit as the Motor City, Northeast Ohio boasted more than 100 auto manufacturers at one time. The Cleveland History Center’s Crawford Auto Aviation Museum revs up those gearheady days June 23-25 with the Cleveland All Stars Homecoming Car Show. Showcasing vehicles made in Northeast Ohio from 1890 to 1932, the weekend of events features a Jordan 1920 Playboy Roadster, a cherry-red car known for its evocative advertising, and the 1922 Templar A-445 Roadster, a sleek, open-top cream car made in Lakewood, and other rare automobiles. “For people into cars, it’s a great bonding experience.” says Lori Smith, education and public programs manager. “For people who are just lovers of design, it’s a fantasy for the eyes.” 10825 East Blvd., Cleveland, 216-721-5722, wrhs.org
