Why watch a film in a crowded theater when you could sprawl out under the Old Brooklyn stars?
No one wants to be cooped up indoors when it’s warm in the CLE. That’s why thousands from all over Northeast Ohio flock to Loew Park in Old Brooklyn on Tuesday nights for Cleveland Summer Cinema. Held June 18-Aug. 13, this year’s lineup meshes throwbacks with family-friendly blockbusters such as Back to the Future, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Avengers: Infinity War and The Little Mermaid. The films are screened on a 22-foot-tall, high-definition LED screen that ensures a clear view from anywhere in the park. Although the movies are the draw, it’s the sense of community that keeps people coming says Jeff Verespej, executive director of the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corp. “It’s magical when you sit next to somebody you probably would never cross and you laugh over a joke or sing a song in the movie together.” 4741 W. 32nd St., Cleveland, 216-459-1000, oldbrooklyn.com
