For an unencumbered, expansive view of the countryside, spend some time on the Holmes Country Trail. This multipurpose, north-and-south, 15-mile route travels from Fredericksburg to Killbuck.
Amish buggies and horseback riders share the path with bikers, runners, walkers and in-line skaters, courtesy of side-by-side lanes, one paved in asphalt, one done in a chip-and-seal finish for horses. It’s a green route that takes you past wetlands, open farmlands and the communities of Holmesville and Milllersburg.
The small town of Berlin lies just a few miles from the Holmes County Trail. It’s home to a local favorite, Boyd & Wurthmann Restaurant, where you can find a true Amish home-style meal.
A mile west of Berlin, you’ll find the Berlin Hotel and Suites with perks including a 26-seat movie theater, a 17,000-square-foot fitness facility and beautifully appointed suites with 50-inch plasma televisions. The festival weekend will also include a classic car parade on Saturday, along with a fireman’s parade in the evening and a Grand Parade on Sunday afternoon.
