While most of us took the early spring stay-at-home orders in stride by ordering takeout or catching up on Zoom, the red-brick Kimpton Schofield Hotel closed for more than two months to focus on self-care.
The result is a double-down on the downtown Cleveland hotel’s already cozy-meets-modern feel. The $1 million facelift includes walls repainted in warm colors and refinished furniture, while guest bathrooms were redone with new tile. The updates include making the experience at the hotel safer. In guest rooms, such as this Soldiers and Sailors Suite, books and other touchpoints were removed.
The hotel also partnered with the Cleveland Clinic on guidelines for disinfecting. But ensuring the hotel was inviting inspired most of the changes. “The interiors really feel very warm and residential,” says general manager Keith Siebenaler. “The rooms overall look cleaner, crisper.”
