During his 47-year football coaching career, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School's John Storey has taught Xs and Os to hundreds of students, about a dozen of whom turned pro, including Bob Golic and Desmond Howard. "I don't know how much coaching I did, but I made sure he was on the bus," Storey says of Howard, a member of St. Joe's 1987 state championship team, the 1991 Heisman Trophy Winner and the MVP of Super Bowl XXXI. Last season, Storey took Division IV coach of the year honors for leading the school to its first playoff berth since 2003. But his playbook is just as much about discipline, punctuality and accountability. "Not everyone had the opportunity to get to the professional level," Storey says. "But they are all important to me."
