Cleveland’s beloved couple, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, were vibing together on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, aka Swift’s favorite podcast. Lately, rumors speculate that the couple might enter their Cleveland era soon by buying a house in the Cleveland area. Clevelanders can only hope that JoJo’s Bar in Chagrin Falls really sold her on what life could be like in Northeast Ohio.
In the meantime, Northeast Ohioans can enjoy the couple's banter on the podcast.
Like some of us, Swift just believes the Kelce brothers are two cool dudes, which is why her favorite segments on episodes are when the Kelce brothers give advice to their viewers. This is something the local duo did in a previous episode for Cleveland, recommending the best spots to visit, eat, and drink in the city.
“I really like it when you give people advice,” says Swift, who also announced a new album called Life of a Showgirl this week. “It’s kind of my personal favorite. You guys give such male-centric advice. Dude’s who don’t want drama.”’
The pop star might know where to eat and what to do in Cleveland. She may even now be a football nut. But does she have what it takes to be one of us? Here are three takeaways from Swift's time on the New Heights podcast, brought to you from a Clevelander's point of view.
Love for FootballClevelanders are passionate about their Cleveland football. Just ask any Browns fan, or even Travis, who proclaimed to the Browns front office during a draft visit that he would “f---ing die for this city”. Well, that love has now passed on to Swift, who’s learning the ins and outs of football.
Related: Before she reached superstar status, a 17-year-old Taylor Swift brought her country music to Cleveland for a free WGAR concert.
“Oh my god, I fell in love with (football). I have become obsessed with it,” Swift says. “I have become a person who is running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy.’”
Now we just need to know her opinion on one football-related matter: Is football better outside or in a dome?
Passion for Otters
Here at Cleveland Magazine, we adore our native critters. So do Clevelanders, who flock to our stories about bald eagles, lantern flies and lake creatures. Travis’s favorite critter is an otter. Not only does he love otters, he loves to share videos with Swift about them.
“All I really use the internet for is sourdough and when Travis shows me videos of otters on his Instagram algorithm,” Swift says.
“I want a wild otter so bad,” Travis says. “ I just want to find these little creatures and be friends with them.”
“I want it too, honestly. Who doesn’t?” Swift expressed.
Otters in Northeast Ohio are thriving, Taylor and Travis. Maybe you will, too.
Taylor’s New World
Football. The craziness of Travis and Jason. Swift admits that all of this is a new world — one that's been fun for her.
“I love this new world that Travis has shown me. It’s so fun. It’s so exciting,” Swift says. “Every memory of (the Super Bowl) is intact. It was so insane.”
Travis then recalled how Swift just dove into his world when she attended her first football game to watch him, walking through the general admission gate.
“Oh, she’s just in it. She’s down for the ride. She's here for the fun. ‘I will go through the mud. I will be a part of the Chiefs' Kingdom,’” Travis says.
Maybe, one day, the couple will convert from Chiefs' Kingdom to the Dawg Pound. After all, Swift loves to drop hints, and the theme of TS12 is what color? Orange.
