After 14 years in business, Loop Tremont is closing its doors for good.
The Tremont coffee shop announced it will no longer carry on in a Facebook post today. Dec. 27 was its final day of operation.
“It’s been a good run Tremont. It is with mixed emotions that we announce our closure after 14 years of serving our customers, friends, and neighbors,” the statement said. “We want to express our deepest gratitude for our customers and employees over the years.
“The decision to close was not an easy one, but it’s time for some new adventures. With heartfelt appreciation, LOOP.”
Loop specialized in coffee that was roasted in-house and also had the uniqueness of doubling as a record store.
Cleveland Magazine highlighted Loop in November as one of our 34 favorite coffee shops. We called the shop, which featured local art displays and had an expansive collection of vinyl and CDs, "every creative's dream."
“It’s more than just a record shop, more than just a coffee shop. They kind of play off each other in a synergistic way,” owner David Foran told us then.
Fans of the coffee shop shared messages of support on its post announcing the closure, which is effective immediately.
"So sad to hear this," wrote Facebook user Alan Madej. "So many wonderful memories, from working at Loop way back during the first 3 months open, always appreciated Loop being such a big supporter of my music, the many coffeehouse shows, incredible music selection, art shows, to just catching up with old friends and meeting many new ones over time and just to have a nice place to go to. We will miss you. Much love to David and all the staff over the last 14 years."
"Thank you Loop for all the memories," added Facebook user Megan Smith. "In 2018 my then boyfriend and I went to loop for the first time and it played a big part in us falling in love with the tremont neighborhood. Many years of coffee and hanging out, discovering local bands through buying records based on the album art.. five years later this November we signed our paperwork for our first home in Loop as a married couple.. A special place we’ll always remember as a backdrop to our story."
