Since 1935, the Klingshirn family has been producing wine at its Avon Lake winery off state Route 83. Today, third-generation owner and winemaker Lee Klingshirn uses Klingshirn’s 20 acres of grapes to make a variety of wines people will love.
“We want to make a good consistent product from year to year and to try to have enough styles of wine to find something for everybody,” Klingshirn says.
Visitors expecting an extravagant winery experience won’t find that at Klingshirn. Instead, the atmosphere is homey and personalized, as guests can sample from roughly 18 different wines at a small counter and make carryout wine purchases. Bring a lunch, sit on the lawn at a picnic table and sip the day away.
“It’s relaxed,” Klingshirn says. “We don’t have big bands playing or other distractions going on.”
Sticking to traditions and roots has served Klingshirn Winery well through the years.
