All we want for Christmas is Mariah Carey... and cake. We definitely want cake.
Local White Flower Cake Shoppe will deliver a very special custom cake for the Christmas queen tonight ahead of her iconic performance at Downtown's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Confectionary powerhouses Marianne Carroll and Lauren Bozich chose hand-piped candy canes, wreaths, mistletoe and Christmas trees on a two-tiered vintage pink vanilla cake with raspberry cream filling for the pop star and her crew. Of course, there’s lots of edible glitter.
“The cake gives over-the-top Christmas holiday vibes because her show is an explosion of Christmas, holiday, and red and green and sparkles,” says Carroll. “We designed these to vibe with the overall feel of the show.”
The owners completed the finishing touches at the Eton flagship shoppe in Woodmere Wednesday, and will attend the Merry Christmas One and All tour themselves with family and friends. “We’re thrilled to be going to the show too,” says Bozich. “It makes you feel connected to Mariah.”
The order also includes two smaller cakes with the same theme, snowflake sugar cookies, cupcakes and cookie decorating kits for Carey’s children. “As working moms, we know what it’s like to have kids tag along and it’s fun to have something to do either before or after the show,” says Carroll.
The team was so excited when they were asked to create Carey’s cake, Bozich says. “She’s a huge celebrity. You’re really excited, but also a little bit nervous, just because you want to make everything perfect.”
“Mariah Carey is known as the queen of Christmas,” says Bozich. “To us, it’s like making cakes that are fit for a queen.”
This is not the shoppe's first time creating a customized cake for a superstar. The team has created custom cakes for The Jonas Brothers, LeBron James, Lori Grenier, Jay Z and others. Most recently the team crafted a three-layered tie-dye pink, blue and white cake for P!nk for her Nov. 8 concert at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The duo opened the first shop in 2007 and has since opened four shops in Woodmere, Strongsville, Solon and the West Side Market, and have competed in four different Food Network Challenges.
