Crossroads to Hope: Scenes of Decision at Cleveland Public Theater
Running through this weekend only, Crossroads to Hope: Scenes of Decision is created and performed by the Y-Haven Theatre Project and directed by CPT artistic director Raymond Bobgan. The show is born out of a 22-year-old partnership the local theater has with Y-Haven, a transitional housing facility for formerly homeless individuals. The virtual performance consists of a series of monologues and short scenes from individual members of Y-Haven in their homes, as they explore their pasts, future and share stories of personal triumph and hope. Evidence of Existence at Hedge Gallery
Opening this Friday, Hedge Gallery presents its third annual printmaking exhibition, which highlights different artists every year. This year’s spotlight is on printmaker Karen D. Beckwith and photographer Amber Ford. Combining both of the artists’ mediums, the exhibition focuses on the theme of existence and the impact that humans leave behind on the world. The exhibit will remain on display through May 7 and feature various works from both artists including photo collages and screenprinting works. March Mathness at The Great Lakes Science Center
For those who see formulas and equations as recreation, the Great Lakes Science Center has a fun event happening through March for those competitive math-lovers. This weekend visitors can either join in on the Math In Motion Science Show on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, where experts showcase the ways in which math is fun with different engaging demonstrations. Or this Saturday or Sunday at 3 p.m., visitors can join the PPG Color Lab Family Workshop where they will learn about colors using a spectrometer. Organ-Ism Livestream via Bop Stop at The Music Settlement
The well-known Cleveland quartet, Organ-Ism is bringing its music to the digital stage through a special live stream by the Bop Stop at The Music Settlement. The four-piece band, which originally formed in 2007, consists of Howie Smith on saxophone, David Thomas on organ, Bill Ranson on drums and Bob Ferrazza on guitar. The group is known for playing its own originally composed pieces along with renditions of popular songs by artists such as John Lennon, Freddie Mercury and others. Spring Salamandering at the Lost River Farm
Hosted by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, this special tour introduces nature-lovers and those curious about reptiles to the many vernal pools, channel ponds and other wetlands along Lost River Farm. Led by Dr. Tim Matson, curator of vertebrate zoology, and other zoology specialists, attendees will get a chance to explore the first sights, sounds and moments of spring through this truly immersive evening nature hike, while definitely catching some glimpses of critters like frogs, salamanders and even nocturnal animals like owls along the way. $20-$35, March 20, 6:30 p.m., 4311 Gageville-Monroe Road, Kingsville, cmnh.org
