Sure it’s a coffee shop, but Beviamo Cafe has quickly become our go-to spot for its vegan food options and superfruit-fueled smoothies. When Danny Rizk opened Beviamo Cafe last April in a tiny Tremont spot along Literary Road, it quickly amassed a following. In late December, Beviamo relocated to larger digs on Professor Avenue where Rizk could expand the menu to include acai bowls, vegan quesadillas, vegan grilled cheese and more. The new 1,600-square-foot space still hums with customers stopping in for that quick cup of joe (try the Ethiopian dark roast Sidama). Others linger to catch up on work or sit down for a meal with their dogs in tow (this is Tremont after all). Check out the daily specials such as vegan tacos ($10), available on Tuesday and Thursday, loaded with chickpeas and brown rice, tabouli, salsa, vegan cheddar and sour cream, and tangy red cabbage. For another umami bite, order the Fox McKraut ($8). The vegan sandwich, built with layers of seasoned avocado, a cucumber dill sauce, sprouts and cucumber, gets its deliciously sour kick from Cleveland Kraut’s Gnar Gnar kraut. You don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy the bold flavors brewing at this cozy neighborhood spot — and we aren’t just talking about the coffee. 2275 Professor Ave., Cleveland, 216-202-2300, beviamocafe.com
