The locals won't like us telling you this, but Gasoline Alley is one of our favorite little out-of-the-way places to grab a bite and a beer. We may even get hate mail from those who fear we've exposed their secret spot. They have good reason to worry. Gasoline Alley is inviting because it delivers the comfy feel of hanging out in a friend's garage, but the deep deli/diner menu of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and salads is why you'll come back. Try the Reuben Fat Boy ($9.99), a tasty take on the deli classic that trades corned beef for a beef patty. If you opt for one of the 40 deli sandwiches, don't forget to tack on a side of spuds ($1.95) or a basket of golden, golf ball-size sauerkraut balls ($4.29). And while Gasoline Alley roasts most of its own meats daily, its vegetarian options are more than an afterthought. We like Jeanne's Vegetable Truck ($8.99), a bounty of fresh cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and avocado stuffed in a pita pocket and served with yogurt dressing. After even a dozen trips to Gasoline Alley, you'll have barely put a dent in the menu. This is the kind of place that begs you return again and again. When you do, tell the locals we sent you.
