There’s always next year. While that familiar phrase usually applies to our football team, it’s a fitting use for those fans who want to experience Progressive Field’s new open-air suites behind home plate.
With plenty of fresh air, incredible views and all-inclusive food and drink, sitting here gives fans the best of everything — so much so that the suites, which seat eight people, are already sold out for this season. But no need to be a sore loser. There are potential plans to expand this concept next year.
We talked to Tim Salcer, vice president of sales and service for the team, about what makes this viewing experience so special.
The views: Fans get a spectacular view of the ballpark from their spot behind home plate. “You experience not only the sights but also the sounds of the game which are great because you’re that close,” Salcer says.
The eats: It isn’t a ballgame without having a cold beer in your hand and a hot dog in the other. That sentiment gets amped up here with an all-inclusive full menu that offers options such as pulled pork sliders and mini hot dogs. “You also get your own service attendant that is with you during the game to assist you with all your needs, which is great convenience,” says Salcer.
The future: With the popularity of the suites, the team is looking into adding more suites along the third base line. “That’s when we truly enjoy our jobs — when you can see a space that was not there in the past that has been created to really bring enjoyment to our fans,” Salcer says.
