Slurp, Slurp, Slurp. That’s the sound of success for NuJoy, the new Chinese restaurant in Uptown. Since opening in August in the former Ninja City location, the spot features traditional Chinese fare rather than Chinese-American food. Owners Bowen and Lindsay Sun, who met at Case Western Reserve University, wanted to share their authentic cuisine with international students at the nearby campus. You’ll find plenty of bao here. The steamed or pan-fried buns are filled with options such as leeks ($4.95) and grilled lamb with cumin ($6.59). Great for sharing, the kebabs are a place to be adventurous. You’ll find squid ($5.95) and fish tofu ($5.49) varieties. But we went for the cuttlefish ball kebabs ($5.49), a salty, squishy fried delight. When it comes to entrees, you can’t go wrong with the beef noodle soup ($9.95). Baby bok choy, chili oil, soba noodles and tender beef combine for a powerhouse dish that will make you drink up every last drop. Etiquette be damned, just pick up the bowl and start slurping. It’s OK — you won’t be the only one. NuJoy, 11311 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-999-7016
