Kick up the color. Look for unexpected pieces that add a pop of color into your wardrobe, such as shoes. "I kind of allocate all of my funds toward fun dresses, but my shoes are really boring and all neutral," says Michelle Rosario, owner of the online boutique Meachy Lynn. "Instead of wearing all of my colors and textures and patterns on top, I want to bring it down to my feet."
Wrap it up. Grab a scarf and experiment with different folds and knots to create a laid-back or elegant look with fabrics. "I don't incorporate scarves enough into my wardrobe, so that's something I need to get on board with," says David Walker, owner of Chagrin Falls boutique Winds of Change. "There are lots of new fabrics coming out that add depth and an element of texture."
Lend an ear. If you're nervous about wearing too much jewelry, start small by adorning your ears with funky earrings. "My overall vibe tends to be minimal, and so jewelry can fall off my wardrobe routine fairly quickly," says Mary Peffer, owner of the Navy Project pop-up shop in the Gordon Square Arts District. "Jewels have this power to elevate an entire look, even if that look is me in a leather jacket and a white T-shirt."
