We made it, you guys. The Republican National
Convention is over, and we’ve got a red-eyed hangover. You’ll want to drink plenty of fluids and try your hand at these three post-RNC cures.
Squared Up
Now that the Republicans and protestors are done with the newly remodeled Public Square, it’s time for Cleveland to take back its town square. After its first major public event, a concert by the Cleveland Orchestra late July, stop for a pair of banh mi pork nachos at the sit-in Rebol restaurant. Or, heck, just close your eyes and sleep the hangover off on the oh-so-green grass. You’ve earned it.
Hollywood Moment
Gather your friends and head to the Edgewater Beach overlook to reconnect with your city. There, Destination Cleveland has set up the ultimate opportunity for a selfie — our very own Hollywood sign that says “Cleveland” in the visitor bureau’s familiar new font. Though two others were installed in July at the Abbey Avenue overlook and Voinovich Bicentennial Park, the Edgewater location offers the best view of Cleveland’s skyline.
Suite Life
It was fully booked for the convention, but since the delegates have departed now is the time for a staycation at the glassy new Hilton Cleveland Downtown. But before you settle in for a night’s sleep, grab a drink at Bar 32 on the hotel’s 32nd floor. Let the View, a cocktail of pineapple and lime juices, creme de cassis and Patron Silver, mingle with the actual view — the expanse of Cleveland’s Lake Erie coastline below your feet.
