Handmade Cards ($1.50 each or 5 for $6)
While walking along brick storefronts in Painesville, I discovered a new favorite shop for handmade cards. These quaint mementos remind me to slow down, breathe and admire the rhythm of color beside the card’s three-dimensional features. The peacock card’s front pocket holds a stamped “thank you” tag inside, looped to an enticing neon green ribbon that prompts one to pull out the message. I love this interaction with the recipient. The copper-colored wire used for a butterfly’s antennae is another example of intricate work. uniquelikeme.org

Junk Party Jewelry’s Day Earrings ($29)
Don’t let the crazy colors or wild geometric shapes fool you, everything from Junk Party Jewelry can be timeless if you style it the right way. Something about each piece is so charming, yet simple, such as these orange, yellow and teal circle earrings, which are my second pair from jewelry maker Marseille Markham’s collection. Not only are they super fun, but they are reminiscent of something out of Picasso and are incredibly light on the earlobes. They’re also eco-friendly, since they’re made from recycled cords and cables. junkpartyjewelry.com

Corrina’s Candles’ Scented Candles ($20-$25)
I’m slowly becoming a candle person. Up until my girlfriend introduced me to Bath & Body Works’ three wick candles two years ago, I’d never thought about scenting up a room for fun. Now, I’ve found myself perusing online for new scents and smells to freshen up every part of our apartment. That newfound desire led me to Corrina’s Candles, where I wasn’t disappointed. While we’ve only burned the birthday cake candle ($20) thus far, I’m eagerly awaiting the chance to light up creme brulee ($25) and black raspberry vanilla ($25). Shopping locally never smelled so good. corrinascandles.com

Cleveland Coffee Co.’s Carlos Jones Positive Vibrations ($13.99 per pound)
A good cup of coffee is all about the beans. But Cleveland Coffee Co. knows that they’re so much more than that. For almost 20 years, the locally owned and operated small batch roaster has imported top-grade Arabica green coffee from ethical growers. Since getting a coffee grinder, I’ve been looking for some good whole beans. In 2019, the company partnered with local musician Carlos Jones, leader of The Plus Band, on the Positive Vibrations blend. This medium blend of African and South American coffee beans features chocolate notes and slight hints of fruit. Grinding the beans is an extra sensory experience that makes my morning a bit better. clevelandcoffeecompany.com
