"We will be able to physically show you trends in colors, food, table settings, decorations, flowers, you name it," says Landerhaven's Christine Krause. "No matter your wedding's season, theme or personality, we will show you tangible ideas to make your wedding day exactly how you want it."
First Stop
When you first arrive, talk with a planner, Krause advises. Bring your list of ideas, and find out what a professional can offer to help narrow your vision according to your needs. "Many brides have grand ideas but a small budget. That doesn't mean they can't still have the wedding of their dreams, it just takes a little creative input from an expert," she says.
This will also be a good opportunity to find a planner that clicks with you, if you decide to enlist the help of one. Walk around together, see the layout, find vendors who fit your style and discuss your ideas as you go. "Be on the lookout for a good listener who connects with you," suggests Krause.
The show also provides an opportunity to sample menu items and wedding cake — and to actually see what the presentation could look like. Plus, the show's intimate, relaxed size and atmosphere lends itself to conversation, reflection and direction.
"A bride will leave here confident in her next step in the process," Krause says.Trend watch
Weddings are very customizable, and there are tons of trends to sift through. The busy bride can learn more about these trends at the Ever After show. Ask the pros how you can make them work for your personality and needs.Wardrobe changes Brides sometimes wear more than one dress for different parts for the ceremony or, more traditionally, wear something wonderful for the wedding then change for the reception, then change again to depart for the honeymoon.
Blue Yes, something blue is a must, but forget about hiding it on a hanky or garter. These days, brides are flaunting the hue on sparkling, colorful shoes and beautiful flowers.
Flowers Your bouquet and centerpieces can be elaborate or simple; just use your imagination. Some incorporate Swarovski crystals, while others just include humble herbs and wildflowers.
Color The bridal party is being seen in pastels again, and there is also a return to coral and metallic. If the ladies wear black, white or gray, think about using a pop of color with accents such as bright lipstick and colorful jewelry.
Culture Family traditions often factor into choosing food for the reception. Landerhaven caterers can include a favorite family food with a special twist to make it elegant and memorable.
Destination wedding at home In this economy, couples having destination weddings often go alone or with a few family and friends, then return home for the reception. But you can bring the destination to your guests, too. Landerhaven, for instance, can use food and decor to make guests feel like they're on location — planners once covered the floor in sand for a couple that got married in Hawaii.
