Cleveland Juneteenth Freedom Fest at Downtown Cleveland’s Mall C
Cleveland will see its first Juneteenth Freedom Fest this year. More than 150 years ago, on June 19, 1865, emancipation was proclaimed to those enslaved in the United States, and the holiday continues to celebrate one of the greatest progressions our country made toward equality. This family-friendly celebration will pump the heart of downtown Cleveland with performances by Grammy-winning Terri Lyne Carrington and Social Science, as well as Lisa Fischer. Duck Tape Scavenger Hunt
Duck Tape practically has properties as mystic as alchemy, from busted school binders to decorative art. In lieu of the canceled Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival, 15 sculptures crafted out of Duck Tape will be on display in Avon and surrounding areas. The artists are sponsored by the Art Academy of Cincinnati, which for 18 years has created duct tape sculptures for the festival. Take photos with bold, larger-than-life sized rainbows and flowers, and be a part of some fun that can win you up to $1,000 worth of gift cards. Opera for All Summer Concerts at Uptown Park
Opera can have a stuffy connotation for some, from lace-trimmed dresses to crimson curtains and slender opera glasses. Imagine opera performed outside instead, with breeze-kissed trees and blooms. Cleveland Opera Theater has insisted on making the art of opera accessible for all this year, with three Opera for All Summer Concerts of family-friendly performances. The 63rd Annual Father’s Day Car Show at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
Rain or shine, Father’s Day will go on at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens this weekend. More than 400 antique, classic and collector cars from 1915 through 1996 will be on display at Akron’s oldest historical landmark. Stan Hywet’s spectacular gardens are sure to wow everyone as a scenic backdrop, while they enjoy the sounds of jazz by Q.S. Jazz.
