Bronny James, the eldest son of Akron native and NBA superstar LeBron James, is in stable condition and has been released from the intensive care unit after suffering cardiac arrest yesterday during a basketball practice at University of Southern California, per The Associated Press.
The family released the following statement:
"Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."
According to TMZ Sports, a 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m. from USC's Galen Center, which is where the team plays. The 18-year-old was unconscious and left the facility in an ambulance.
One of the nation's hottest incoming recruits, the four-star recruit has courted NBA rumors since he was in high school, and LeBron has openly discussed his hopes of playing with his son before retiring.
Some athletes and others passed along their support to the James family.
