Tri-C Jazz Fest
This swingin' music festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this weekend with headlining performances from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. band and more. Ragtime the Musical
Based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow and converted into a musical script by playwright Terrence McNally, Ragtime provides the whimsical music such as “Goodbye My Love” and “Journey On.” Head down to Cain Park and step into the early 20th century musical about three families in search of the American Dream. Delightful Party: Dread and Delight
Only a carriage ride away, the Akron Art Museum has crafted a gallery of fairy tales that address current social issues. See how 21 contemporary artist deconstruct the fairy tales and artistically reassemble them in the exhibit's opening weekend. You'll find yourself looking at a 1980s-themed arcade video of Cinderella as it tackles the social roles of women today and captivated by a carriage made out of crystalized candy. $10.
